Training For BaseballBy Jon Doyle Why is it that there are more articles about training for baseball and baseball training information available to use than ever before, yet it's still unbelievably confusing to most on the proper way to train. In two words: The Internet! The Internet is a great tool. It allows us to do so many things we couldn't otherwise do. The problem is since the Internet has become popular countless baseball training "experts" have surfaced. Sadly, the large majority of these guys never played baseball, don't train baseball players and really have no idea what the proper training for baseball really is. Now I don't write all of this to sound all "high and mighty", rather to look at the source when you're reading how to properly train for baseball. Most of these "guru's" are preaching methods aimed at training for baseball that have gained popularity in mainstream fitness magazines such as use of wobble boards, tubing and "core" work. Sadly this type of training does not hold up in the real world and simply makes for a good "photo-op". They simply copy and paste with no regard to how it will affect you the reader. Real baseball training combines protocols that develop strength (mainly speed and starting strength), explosive power, endurance, flexibility, stamina and multi-directional movements, all while developing a balanced body to prevent injuries from the repetitive movements baseball demands. And all of this can be done in as little as 30-45 minutes 3 times per week. But you have to know the best way to train for baseball. It's not as simple as going into the weight room, laying on the bench press and doing a few bicep curls and leg extensions. That's what will get you hurt. Real training for baseball is planned.
